Isn’t that a good surprise when one can get a 1996 Burgundy in Magnum format serving causally by glass?

Today I was at the Clipper Lounge in the Mandarin Oriental HK for lunch. At Clipper, the wine list by glass is somehow boring with only a few choices; and not having a Burgundy under their red section seems like a little insensitive these days. My friend then asked for the wine menu from the Mandarin Grill. Despite it took them a bit of time on the ordering, the list was a good surprise. A 2009 Barol Magnum (which it may be little young) and a magnum Of a 1996 Patrick Bize’s Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Bourgeots (coming from vines located on lower reaches to the east of the village) we had a few glasses at the end.
Ask for the wine list from Mandarin Grill +Bar even if you were at the Captain’s bar or Clipper if you wouldn’t like to have a good full bottle.
Love the wine. Great enjoyment with good aging. A delight.
Good wine makers come and goes but their legacy and spirits live on.
