Attended to the opening of the Hong Kong Maison Van Cleef and Arpels on 10 Chater Road, Central, in Prince’s Building last Friday, 16 September 2011. After the ribbon cutting, the party moves on to the same building at SEVVA. Not trying to mention what is to see and be seen there (it’s actually turned out to be a classy fun night!) but just to drop a line about this bottle I’d been sipping throughout the night at the outdoor terrace.
Perrier-Jouët as their Champagne (in fact, Van Cleef & Arpels created an exclusive flowery brooch set with 450 diamonds & 259 yellow sapphires for curvee Perrier-Jouet Fleur de Champagne earlier ) and Cape Mentelle Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2010 as their free flowing white for the night. Forgot the red, oops.. as I didn’t really care about it given it was quite a sweaty night being at the terrace outdoor for me.
Light-straw pale green, I smelled guava and lime citrus, yum! and bit of jasmine too! Richness and weight are balanced nicely by the lively citrus and lots of fresh tropical fruit giving quite many brisk finish for my night. Service at Sevva was surprisingly “well trained” that night compare to the terrible inattentive ones on a usual Friday. Wine was served chilled at the right temperature makes those sips lovely touch between sweats and chats.
