Hard to miss a Tim Burton’s film especially when Johnny is in it. It’s kind of a good movie I would say. The 3 D were quite fun to watch seeing the laughing cat coming in and out of the screen. I don’t quite like to compare one to another but since wearing goggles to movies is bit rare (fun but super dumb!) and while the most recent goggle movie was Avatar, and it was about another fantasized world as well. I unfairly compare Alice to it. I think Avatar was a more engaging movie and definitely more fascinating. Oh, and is more 3D for sure! Anyhow, I whispered to my friend at movie,”with so much green and blue makeup, Johnny still look so damn gorgeous is it?” then he totally gave me that look.
It’s Alice-mania out there in the run up to the film!. You won’t miss it if you stroll down the street. Seems this is the got-ta-have theme for anything from beauty product to clothing(big trend for Spring with designers including Marc Jacobs using Aliceas their muse for their upcoming collections.). I remember 5 years ago, I saw Hermes using Alice in the wonderland for it’s window display in Paris. And even as early as 2003, the absolutely beautiful “Alice In Wonderland ” fashion editorial was already shot by photographer superstar Annie Leibovitz with model Natalia Vodianova for Vogue US . I was loving it, and still am. I also used Alice theme as the creative direction for Spring 2006 Esprit’s cosmetic line. wooo, that was quite a while ago.
Despite it’s seems dull to be too colorful every corners just for the sake of it, I can’t deny it’s such a yummy idea to have the wonderland on table. Imagine the whole table is displayed like the one in the movie. The theme even went to tableware! I was in Lane Crowford Home, Pacific Place in HK at an event organized by LC for 2 other furniture designers from UK and saw that fun table with Gabriela Series. Colorful cupcake on pink ceramics cake plate with rabbit sitting next to you can’t go too bad as if I transported to the table in the movie.
I searched across that table and found something was missing : “Drink Me” and the most gorgeous Johnny Depp with those green big eyes. I could almost hear Johny’s hysterical laugh – “hahahhahaaaa”.
